My SIL is a 100% Dutch Canadian hailing from BC, and was unfamiliar with the acclaimed painting; but I think she did a great job nailing her own lovely rendition nonetheless. They both did.

Saw the Soap Making book on your list, how is it? Do they use Lye? I haven't done any research on options (and if Lye is a good thing), but read recently that Lye is made relatively easily from wood ash and my mind started "going" ... ooooo, soap making!! Have you tried this yet? Do tell. -Sandy (ps-you're no doubt better at this whole fbthang try ln pereira)

I found the soapmaking book via a blog search - I wanted to see what people were saying, and this book was recommended the highest by the people actually doing it. I've read through it a couple of times, but I haven't actually made soap yet. I don't have any solid block of time to commit. But I will someday, and then...I will make soap. Yessss.
